See-Saw
See-saw is
interesting. The minute you move up, the air feels so delightful on your face;
you feel exhilarated. The moment you move down you feel the surge to thrust
harder and reach higher. It was an entertaining activity for me whenever I went
to the playground. I indeed love it to date.
It was a game of
balance and also the one where you supported while the other person went up.
Life, as we perceive,
is a replica for the same. The problem arises when we don’t look at it
that way.
Whenever we put
efforts to achieve something the thrill and the bliss the peak gives us is
admirable. We feel at the top of the world and overlook the encouragement of
those who help us attain that position.
Then in life comes a
point when we are at our lowest low, but instead of pushing hard to reach the
top again, we gloat. We criticize our ‘Kismet’, our stars, our
surroundings, and everything else except us. We just give up by trying once or twice.
What happens to us
when we grow up?
Why don’t we believe
in more effort?
Also, when we are at
the see-saw, we are delighted in both the conditions; a satisfaction to get to
the top and glad to try again.
But; as we grow up,
we feel the pride and contentment when we approach the top; but, when life
throws us a test; we give up.
The sole reasons I
think that we don’t consider both the condition similar is:
- We take life
very seriously
- We are running
behind set norms; without paying heed to savor the journey
- We expect a lot
and end up getting upset when expectations crumble
- We seek a quick fix in a situation rather than looking for a lesson
- We prefer to
live in the fantasy that life will happen to us easily and without
obstructions; and
- We forget that
happiness is a state of mind and your position on the see-saw of life
never defines it.
Remember somewhere,
someone is getting to a pinnacle because of you. Your presence caused a
difference in someone’s story. Acknowledge that and appreciate yourself for
playing a part in the accomplishment of someone.
If you compare life to a seesaw, the only means to see alternative
possibilities is to push off the ground. There will always be something to
pull you down, that is inevitable. All you need is to identify the
strength to push up again, support to help you and a smile to walk it
through.
So, let us get up
today to accomplish that one situation we always assumed we are never good at.
Let’s try to at least give a hard push. You might not land up at the top, but
it will surely gratify you.
